Welcome to our first “must-reads” newsletter where we highlight the top five cloud networking stories from the previous month. With the growing shift of business-critical applications to cloud and multicloud, it's important for networking, cloud, infrastructure, and security teams to stay up to date on the latest developments and best practices in this field. While cloud and multicloud infrastructure have clear benefits, they also bring their own sets of challenges, particularly when it comes to networking. In this newsletter, we aim to provide you with valuable insights and best practices to help you navigate the complexities of cloud networking.

The articles we've selected for this month cover a wide range of topics, from cloud costs and ROI to a new job title: Application-Flow Architect. Whether you're a seasoned IT professional or just getting started with multicloud, we hope you'll find these articles informative and valuable.

Even in cloud repatriation there is no escaping hyperscalers

Silverlinings is a new publication launched this month that you should know about – it's written specifically for cloud network architects and brought to you by the folks behind Light Reading, Dark Reading, Fierce Telecom, and more. This article looks at the history of cloud repatriation and suggests the idea may be short-lived as the benefits of using a public cloud, such as cost savings and scalability, are hard to replicate in a private cloud environment. Unsurprisingly, the author argues that companies will find it hard to escape the dominance of hyperscalers like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google.

Network World

A new role for network pros: application-flow architect

Rumor has it there is a new role on the cloud networking scene: Application-flow architect. Will this title give networking teams a stronger say in architecting cloud-based applications from the outset? Something to look forward to.
