Guess what continues to top IT leaders’ lists of concerns? You bet – cloud costs. While enterprise cloud budgets continue to increase and leaders are getting “savvier about cloud economics”, Paula Rooney reports that emerging technologies such as generative AI and the drive to innovate are throwing wrenches into event the best-laid plans.

Bing Chat so hungry for GPUs, Microsoft will rent them from Oracle 

As Aviatrix CEO Doug Merritt recently laid out at TheCUBE’s Supercloud 5 event, compute power will be one of the major factors in GenAI’s sustainability. So perhaps it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Microsoft itself seems to be going multicloud because of how AI changes the application landscape. The Register’s Tobias Mann reports this month that the software giant signed a multi-year agreement with Oracle to “offload some of the machine-learning models used by Bing Search to Oracle's GPU supercluster”.
